Mehmet Celebi is another name for the first Ottoman Sultan Mehmet. In Ottoman Turkish, Celebi means noble-born, while in Roman, it means the lord's son. In 1402, Tamerlane captured his father, Bayezid I, also known as Bayezid the Thunderbolt. Four of his sons ran away from the battle and began the Ottoman Civil War, also known as the Ottoman Interim period.
